i got a soft toothbrush cause of my sensitive gums. I thought it was still soft but when i got a new one at the store it had become very hard. Is this a sign that i need a new brush?

You should probably change your toothbrush after 3 months of use. After 3 months it becomes less able to actually clean your teeth because the bristles where out and get scraggly. Try to find a soft bristle that has bristles that fade or change color when it needs to be replaced.
