What Is The Best Padding To Be On A Noseband?

I have this lariat rope nose band (see http://www.horse.com/item/side-pull-hackamore/SLT700239/) but the lariat rope is really tough and coarse and my mare has a more soft/tender nose and she doesn’t like how it feels, so I need to find some way to pad it and make it a little less hard on her nose. What would be the best, cheapest padding to get? I can buy materials and make one if I need to.
