i recently bought a router and i was having difficulties connecting on a secured (WPA2) network via wireless and the only way i could connect was if i disabled the security. i went to tech support and the dude had me change it to WEP and it works now but i dont feel like its super secure. does that mean my laptop doesnt work with WPA?

This isnt the first time i’ve gotten Security Tool, its probably the 4th time and each time I do the whole safe mode with networking on MalwareBytes and it moves, no problem. But now I try it and nothing. It always says 1 Infected item I remove it restart and its still there… =/ … how do I get rid of it today, I have a research paper I need to type for tomorrow and it wont let me run anything. I think its AntiMalware Doctor.

Problem With Connecting My Ps3 To My Router Via A Wireless Connection (picking Best Answer)?

Ok so I usually keep the PS3 downstairs with an ethernet cable attached to the router for the PS3 to be online via a wired connection. But now I’ve moved it upstairs and the routers downstairs so I now want to connect it wireless but I can’t because I don’t think I’m changing the settings right. So I go into the internet connection settings and it says “Adjust settings for connection to the Internet. If making a wired connection, you must have an ethernet cable connected.” then I click ‘OK’.. So now it says “Select a setting method” and I pick ‘Easy’. Then says “Checking network configuration, please wait.” After that I choose the wireless connection, now it brings me to the WLAN settings. Then I click scan and it finds my bt homehub with a signal strength of 67%, so then I click my router. Now it goes on to my WLAN Security setting and I click ‘WEP’. I then enter my WEP key for the router. Then it says “Checking network configuration” (this takes about 2 minutes). So then it ends up with “The connection to the access point timed out” and brings me back to the start. Have I made a problem with my settings or something? Answer that will help me will be picked for the best answer, thanks.

Here’s the thing: I spoofed the last digit on my router’s MAC address so anyone wanting to connect will get an error, obviously for security reasons and because I don’t want anyone to mooch off my already slow internet. However, I need to connect my laptop to the same internet, but I can’t, obviously because I spoofed the mac.
Is there a way for me to connect with manual settings( so I can input my real MAC address), so that I can get around my own security and connect to the router? Using Windows 7, thanks.

Connection Showing More Network Activity Than The Single Download In Progress.?

the program that runs my mobile broadband connection shows between 80-200 kbps is currently being downloaded but the only file i am downloading is shown by windows as having a transfer rate of 10 kbps and judging by how long it is taking the windows meter is correct. there is nothing else running or downloading in the background. what is causing the extra traffic? it is also showing between 7-15kbps currently being uploaded. i have current Norton Internet security, it updated 5 mins b4 i started downloading…
