first before i hear “oh, it couldnt possibly be that” it is, deal with it.
i have an update that every time my computer automatically adds it, it cuts off my internet.
every time i remove said update i get my internet back then it tries to auto update again and i lose the internet.
i have a windows 7 home premium toshiba laptop.
for those of you that will ask:
i have norton antivirus 2010, had it for awhile. no it is not blocking the internet because yes i did uninstall it and all its components when the net still refused to work i reinstalled it.
i run it daily.

i just want to know what anti virus you prefer…or any suggestion aside from those two..thanx in advance!,..i’ll appreciate any suggestions and opinions..tanx again..

Sorry if this is long and completely irrelevant to Ramadan section but you people seem smart so please help.
Someone sent me something on MSN saying “Is this pic of you?” with a link and it had my email address at the end of it. Me being stupid clicked it and downloaded the file but when I went to my Downloads to look at it, I couldn’t find it anywhere. So I downloaded it AGAIN and still couldn’t find it anywhere so I gave up. I didn’t have antivirus downloaded but I just downloaded AVG antivirus. I don’t know where those two files have saved, I checked everywhere. Someone else who also got the virus said that their email got messed up…
How can I get rid of this virus? Would changing my MSN password do anything? I did a virus scan thing on AVG but it didn’t detect anything. I’m worried because I can’t find those two files =S

I am so confused as to which antivirus software I should get. Right now I am debating about symantec and AVG. I really do not care about the price as long as it is under $100. With my computer I plan on watching shows online (not hulu) and I want to make sure that I don’t get any viruses while watching the shows. One of my computers got completely infected from watching five minutes of an anime episode. So please tell me what to get.

I heard you get free Antivirus. Is this true? And if so, do you get free Microsoft Office?

Mkay, so I’m a 16 year old girl with little hardcore tech experience.
Short story:
My computer started shutting down randomly.

I know how to start windows in safe-mode but It doesn’t tell you how to troubleshoot it once I get there.

Details:
I use a gateway desktop, I got it from best-buy. They told me Trend antivirus would be a good one to use so I bought that with the computer, and my computer has been working great up until a few days ago.
It started shutting down randomly.
The screen on the desktop goes black, the blue light on it goes orange.
Sorta like it’s sleeping, but the light on the tower stays on and doesn’t blink. And when I press the button on the tower – nothing happens, so I end up having to manually unplug EVERYTHING and wait a few minutes just to restart it because it won’t shut down any other way, and when I try and just turn off and on the monitor it’ll start to turn on again, then just go black all over.
I apologize for not being able to explain this very well, I’m just confused and I think everyone is having money problems so I’d rather not have to take it in to be overcharged for something I may be able to fix myself.
